Staff Accountant

Walters Hospitality is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant to support our Accounting & Finance division. As we continue to expand our portfolio of venues and services-with the backing of a leading private equity firm-this role will be instrumental in ensuring financial accuracy, supporting operational growth, and strengthening internal accounting processes.

The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and eager to grow their accounting career in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This individual will gain hands-on experience across core accounting functions, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives while supporting a rapidly growing organization.

What You'll Do:

• General Ledger & Reconciliations

• Maintain the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions
• Perform account reconciliations for cash, AR/AP, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses
• Prepare and post journal entries with proper supporting documentation

• Month-End & Quarter-End Close

• Support the timely and accurate execution of monthly and quarterly close processes
• Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to streamline close activities

• Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payroll

• Assist in processing AP, AR, and payroll transactions with accuracy and timeliness
• Ensure compliance with internal controls related to procure-to-pay and order-to-cash cycles

• Internal Controls & Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and drive automation
• Support documentation and testing of internal controls
• Assist in developing and implementing new accounting policies as the company grows

• Ad Hoc Projects

• Participate in special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO, including system enhancements, integrations, financial analysis, and support for M&A activities

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 1-2 years of experience in accounting or a related field preferred
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
• High attention to detail and integrity

• This is a hybrid role and the office is located at The Olana, Hickory Creek, TX
